This month, we were pleased to see the formal launch of the Global Scale of English. The Global Scale of English underpins PTE Academic, and Pearson will be aligning all ELT products with the scale, in order to help learners and teachers show progress.
To mark the formal launch of the scale, a lively discussion about “A Single Global Standard for English – Dream Or Necessity?”, took place as part of the LTRC conference in Amsterdam.
Professor John de Jong, creator of the Global Scale of English, was joined by four panellists, with educational influencers joining the debate via Google Hangout from around the world, including key commentators from UK, USA, Canada and Uruguay.
During the LTRC conference, Veronica Benigno, Jeremy Hancock, and Kasia Pawlak also presented a paper titled “The use of academic collocations in essays in a test of academic English”.
