With the recent opening of our PTE test center in Laos, Pearson now delivers Secure English Language Test (SELT) exams for UK visas in all Association of South East Asian Nations (ASEAN) countries.
PTE Academic, PTE Academic UKVI, and PTE Home are all available at 17 locations in total across the 10 ASEAN countries of Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam.
Speaking on the recent launch of the PTE test center at Vientiane College, Vientiane, Laos which completed our coverage across the ASEAN bloc, Managing Director Pearson APAC, David Barnett said:
“The opening of our new PTE test center will provide Laotian students with greater choice and access to the English testing required to achieve a life-changing study opportunity with a leading university around the world, or obtain a scholarship.
“More widely we are delighted that this launch now means we can give test takers across all ASEAN countries the opportunity to take a PTE exam for UK Visa purposes, putting Pearson at the forefront as a UKVI provider in this region.”
John Pearson, British Ambassador to Laos, said:
“The UK has a strong and growing relationship with the Lao PDR. We fund the clearance of unexploded ordnance, we are supporting top-class health research, and we are working with Laos to tackle climate change. Education is a very important part of this. The UK is proud to have four of the world’s top ten universities and to rank first consistently for international student experience. We want more Lao people studying English, taking British exams, and learning in the UK.
“As a Secure English Language Test, PTE Academic is a great addition to the options available for Lao nationals who wish to work or study overseas. With my surname, I am obviously delighted that Pearson is now in Laos!”
English is the working language of the 10 member ASEAN bloc, which is home to more than 650 million people and as many as 1,000 languages. ASEAN test takers can click here to book a test.
