This week, we are thrilled to announce that PTE Academic can now be used to apply for Australian visas.
PTE Academic has been used to prove English proficiency for student visas in Australia for the past five years. However, the Department of Immigration & Border Protection (DIBP) now accepts PTE Academic for temporary graduate, skilled, work and holiday, and former resident visa programmes as well.
David Barnett, MD of Pearson Australia said:
“By providing secure, computer-based English language testing, PTE Academic unlocks opportunities for study, work and migration to Australia. When it comes to proving English ability as part of an Australian visa, we can help applicants by offering faster test results and flexible test dates. PTE Academic is already widely accepted around the world, including for all UK visas, so it is good to see the Australian government offering more choice for visa applicants.”
Assistant Minister for Immigration and Border Protection, Senator the Hon Michaelia Cash, announced:
“This development affords applicants more choice in providers while also increasing competition within the English language testing market.”
Since the Australian government accepted PTE Academic for student visas in 2009, the test has been rapidly adopted across the country. PTE Academic is accepted by every Australian university as well as professional associations.
PTE Academic test centres operate in Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, Perth and Adelaide.
To use PTE Academic to apply for an Australian visa, test takers simply need to indicate that they are using the test for Australian visa purposes when they are asked at the question at registration. For any test takers who have not done so, you can also assign your score to the Department of Home Affairs (formerly the DIBP) using the score report website.
