If we notice anything that will affect you using your computer to take the practice test, you will see a message and advice. However, you should also check the information in the red box below to see if your computer meets the full system requirements.
We advise you to
run this system check to check your audio settings and your computer's version of Java. If you find that
Wimba Media Player is blocked, you may need to switch off your virus checker software while you are taking the test.
Full System Requirements
Internet Connection
- You will need a good internet connection of 0.5Mb or higher
- Broadband of 1Mb or higher is preferred

- Windows Vista
- Mac 10.5.6
Supported Web Browsers
- Internet Explorer 6 or higher
- Firefox 3.5.6
- Safari 3.2.1
We do not support Google Chrome or Safari 4.0.
Please note that later versions of Firefox may not provide the same level of display or performance as Firefox 3.5.6.
Java Virtual Machine
- Java 1.6.0_16 - version to be used with Firefox 3.5.6
- Java 1.6.0_13 - version to be used with Internet Explorer 8
- For other Windows users, Java 1.6 is required
- For Mac users, Java 1.5 is required
If you are not taking the test on your own computer, please make sure you have permission to download and install Java onto the machine you are using for this test.
Pop-Up Web Pages

Our practice tests are best viewed on a screen resolution of:
