Test security is key to maintaining the integrity of the English test. PTE Academic is administered using new technologies to ensure both maximum security and enhance the testing experience.
Pearson test centers are highly secure. Stringent security measures are implemented within the Pearson VUE test center network, to protect test content and verify the identity of the test taker.
Pearson use state-of-the-art biometrics to ensure the security of the testing process for PTE Academic. These include using digital photographs, palm-vein scanning and in a few circumstances fingerprints also and signatures to authenticate test takers. Test center administrators also implement video and audio monitoring in the test center to provide the highest level of security. Test takers are enclosed in separate partitions and cannot see another test taker’s screen. Additionally, test takers cannot carry any materials that might help them solve items into the test room and any potentially fraudulent incidents will be thoroughly investigated.
To ensure the security of PTE Academic test content, questions will be replenished continuously and randomized test forms will minimize item exposure and fraud.
In addition, test takers are required to provide a Personal Introduction. This response may provide an additional biometric (a voice print) to allow institutions to compare an applicant’s voice with the voice recorded while taking the test. The Personal Introduction will be available as a digital sound file and will accompany score reports.
